Pickleball Club

Carrickmacross Pickleball Club was founded in 2024 following on from a tester program ran by Monaghan Sports Partnership in 2023.
As stated on the Pickleball Ireland website, Pickleball has to be one of the best sports invented for the Irish climate. It is played on a badminton court with a tennis net and hard paddles.  Pickleball was created to be a fun, competitive, and highly social sport. Since its inception, it has embodied an ethic of good sportsmanship that includes respect, fair play, and graciousness in winning and losing.

Carrick Rovers

Carrick Rovers have three senior teams in the Meath & District League. Premier, Premier Reserve, C Reserve. We have six team playing in the North Eastern Counties Schoolboys (Girls) League. U12, U13, U14, U15 P, U15 D1, U16. We are members of the Monaghan Soccer Development League and we have two U11 teams which play in Gortkeegan (Monaghan United) on Saturday morning throughout the winter. We have a juvenile camp every Saturday for both boys and girls from the age of 5 up to 10 year old in Aclint Astro Turf pitches from 10am to 12 noon (October to April). Carrick Rovers have started their own web-site and you can check us out by logging on to for more information. Match reports are published in the local newspapers (The Northern Standard and Dundalk Democrat).

Carrickmacross Cycling Club

Carrickmacross Cycling Club is south Monaghan’s premier cycling club formed 24 years ago in 1989, and in addition to being one of south Monaghan’s leading cycling clubs, it is also one of the biggest sporting clubs in the county with over 70 members.

The club caters for cyclists from all walks of life from the recreational cyclist on a coffee shop run, leisure touring riders and the Lycra clad road racer competing in open races. We cater for both men, women & juniors as well as newcomers and more experienced cyclists. In addition the club also has very close ties with Carrick Aces Athletic Club, with many people being members of both.

To cater for all enthusiasts the club runs a number of cycling events throughout the year. Like any cycling club worldwide the cornerstone of Carrickmacross Cycling Club’s activities is the weekend ride. On any given weekend up to 3 different groups are hitting the roads of the north east. In addition to year round weekend touring and training rides, the summer sees a large number of members road racing. During the shorter days of winter, the cyclists move indoors to spinning classes in the Phoenix Centre, Carrickmacross.

Carrick Aces Athletics Club

Carrick Aces Athletics Club was founded in 1990. We are based at Common Lands Carrickmacross beside McElvaneys Recycling.
Our track is used daily by members and non members alike, and you are nearly guaranteed to find someone on the track from early morning to late evening 7 days a week no matter what the weather. As it is situated within a enclosed area with ample parking it is a safe place to come down to walk,jog or run. There are no dogs or bike allowed on the track. With a large portion of the track surrounded by trees it’s a peaceful area to do your daily exercise.

January each year we have our registration night, but your more than welcome to join at any stage through the year. We have a special deal done with some local businesses, where they offer a discount to our members.

We cater for everyone, from 6 to 96. With Athletics Ireland Accredited coaches we can help you achieve you goal, be it a 5k or your first marathon we can help you cross that line. If you just want to get some fresh air and join a weekly club for some fun we have that sorted too. With plenty of training options form early morning to evening runs you will be spoilt for choice.If you have a competitive side we are currently going for four years in a row as top club in the Monaghan County league.

Carrickmacross Tennis Club

Established in 2019 and officially opened in 2022, Carrickmacross Tennis Club has 3 artifical clay courts, all of which will soon be floodlit with an adjacent club house pavilion. The club is located on the grounds of Mannan Castle Golf Club 5km outside the town centre. Club membership is available from our website below.
