Local Fine Gael TD and Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys, has welcomed the provision of funding of €33,100 to eight local organisations in Cavan-Monaghan under the National Lottery Grant Scheme.
Speaking on the matter, Minister Humphreys said:
“The Department of Children and Youth Affairs has a National Lottery Discretionary fund which provides once-off grants to community groups and voluntary organisations involved in providing services for children and young people.
“In Co Monaghan, four organisations and groups will receive funding of €9,100 which will go towards a range of very worthwhile projects. This includes €4,000 for Farney SCP for Bullying and Substance Misuse Workshops, €2,500 for Ballybay Community Creche to go towards the cost of a Jungle Gym and football coaching, €2,000 for Fingers and Toes Community Childcare in Latton for the purchase of Special Needs Equipment and finally €600 for the FAI to assist with the costs of a football camp for teenagers.

Meanwhile in Co Cavan, €8,000 has been provided to the Cavan Centre in Ballyjamesduff for the purchase of equipment for drug prevention courses, €5,000 has been provided to Cavan Autism Parents Support (CAPS) to go towards horse riding, €1,500 has been provided to the Cavan 365 Project while the Special Hands Activity Group in Castletown have been granted €9,500.
“The funding announced today is part of a national programme which will see €910,000 allocated towards providing services for young people. This year the scheme is particularly targeting small scale projects and it focuses on activities that involve culture and play, young people led initiatives, healthy.
“The National Lottery Grants provide vital funding to extremely worthwhile groups and organisations that do very good work in Cavan-Monaghan. I would like to congratulate those who were successful in securing funding and encourage those organisations who were unsuccessful on this occasion to consider applying for funding in 2015.”
