As part of The Carrickmacross entry in the Best Kept Town Competition and the Tidy Town Competition, the Tidy Town Committee have been working on a project with the Municipal District to bring the street bins back to their former glory. They are being reconditioned by Francie Marron F&F Shotblasting Services, Umerafree, Corduff. There have a new addition, a ‘stub-it’ plate, manufactured by Nichrome Engineering Ltd., Carrickmacross for smokers. This is part of the Reuse Campaign, instead of buying new bins the project improves what is there and supports local businesses.
Below are some before and after photos, since they are part of the street furniture most people probably didn’t notice how poor they looked. However, these new versions should stand out. Click for larger image.
