Sports Capital Application Deadline Fast Approaching – Humphreys

Sports Capital Application Deadline Fast Approaching – Humphreys

Deputy reveals almost 3000 clubs registered nationwide

Local Fine Gael TD, Heather Humphreys, has urged local sports clubs and organisations to ensure they have submitted their application under the 2014 Sports Capital Programme in advance of the deadline of 28th February.

Speaking on the matter, Deputy Humphreys said:
“The deadline for registering your club on the Online Sports Capital system closed on 7th February. In response to a Parliamentary Question I tabled in the Dail this week, the Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring TD, confirmed that in total there have been 2,907 successful registrations for the 2014 Sports Capital Programme.

“The Minister advised that this figure may change slightly if it is discovered, when reviewing applications submitted, that some of these organisations are not entitled to apply under the Sports Capital Programme, for example if they are private/commercial organisations or organisations with no involvement in sport.

“Nonetheless, it is expected that this year will see the highest number of applications ever received under a Sports Capital Programme. I would therefore urge all local clubs in Cavan and Monaghan to ensure that they have fully familiarised themselves with the programme guidelines and ensure that their application is submitted online well in advance of the deadline of 5pm on Friday 28th February,” said Deputy Humphreys.
