Social, Cultural and Economic Benefits of Festivals and Events in Cavan & Monaghan

Cavan-Monaghan LEADER has announced details of their upcoming Festival Conference scheduled for Thursday, October 18th, 2012 in the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan to commence from 9.30am.

In the morning sessions the Conference will focus on the challenges and opportunities for Festivals in the region, it will celebrate the successes of Festivals in Cavan and Monaghan and it will explore the legacy of the widely acclaimed Cavan’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and how this might be built upon.

Mr Jim Miley, Director of “The Gathering” 2013, will present the scope and progress of Ireland’s “Gathering” project and illustrate how projects are now being activated at community level right across the country.

“Festivals are a valuable rural assets contributing substantially to the local economy and the cultural, social, heritage and tourism development of the region” commented Mr John Toland Cavan-Monaghan LEADER are committed to working with Festivals in the region to realise the potential of the sector.”

The Conference afternoon Forum will bring together festival, community, enterprise and tourism interests to identify key actions that will build a strong, relevant and vibrant festival platform in the Cavan Monaghan region from which critical strategies going forward can be informed.
