The cycling community of Carrickmacross has joined forces with Carrickmacross Lions Club to launch the North East Cycle Challenge which will take place on Sunday 6th May 2012. The event will cater for all cyclists, with the 100km Drumlin Route extending through parts of Cavan and mid Monaghan and the 30km Oriel Route which will have the picturesque village of Tallanstown as its destination.
The Challenge will appeal to both established cyclists throughout the North East and also to people who are thinking of taking up cycling for the first time. Cycling is growing in popularity and the Oriel Route will be very manageable for people who start a simple 6 week training plan which will be published in the Northern Standard and on the Carrickmacross Lions website.
