Lisdoonan Development Association

Lisdoonan Development Association was formed in March 1993 to address the social, economic and cultural needs of the Lisdoonan area. The Association undertook an extensive consultation exercise in 1993 to determine the views of all members of the community and groups operating in the area in relation to future developments within Lisdoonan. It was widely acknowledged that as the area had no commercial, cultural or recreational centre, there was little opportunity for community interaction or development within the locality. As a consequence, the group identified that the need for a community centre facility, which would serve as the focal point for regeneration within this isolated rural community, was of paramount importance for the Lisdoonan area.

The group opened the doors to its community resource centre on the 19th July 1998, after five years working towards that objective and have now cleared all debt incurred, through fundraising activities and profits from the bar.
