There was a huge turnout for the launch of the Patrick Kavanagh Centre in Inniskeen this morning. The Patrick Kavanagh Centre preserves, interprets, and celebrates the life and works of Patrick Kavanagh and the surrounding environment.
The Centre has been a focal point for Patrick Kavanagh poetry and memorabilia in the village of Inniskeen for over 25 years and was previously run by the Inniskeen Development Committee. Three years ago, Monaghan County Council & Monaghan Tourism sought funding for the redevelopment of the building and the development of a Patrick Kavanagh interactive multimedia experience. A visit to the Centre is a recommended must and is only 11km from Carrickmacross!
The Centre was launched by Minister Heather Humpreys and Minister Catherine Martin and entertainment was provided outside by the Castleblayney Players.
