Fine Gael TD for Cavan-Monaghan, Heather Humphreys, has encouraged local community groups in Co Monaghan to apply for funding under this year’s National Lottery Grant Scheme.
“I am very pleased that the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald TD, has provided a fund of €500,000 under this year’s National Lottery scheme.
“The Scheme is targeting small scale projects and it is envisaged that the level of grant awarded will typically be for an amount less than €15,000. The scope of the scheme is for the provision of services to children and young people. Grants will be provided for once-off projects including providing equipment for youth clubs, youth cafes, sports clubs, summer camps, day trips, equipment for playschools/crèches and other once-off programs.
“Priority will be given to projects and activities that involve culture, play and recreation, children and youth led initiatives and vulnerable and hard to reach children and young people.
“The Department of Children and Youth Affairs are currently accepting applications and application forms and further information on the scheme are available on the Department’s website at www.dcya.gov.ie. The closing date for applications is Friday 18th October however I encourage any local groups who may be interested to submit their applications as soon as possible,” said Deputy Humphreys.
