Huge Crowd for Turning on of the Christmas Lights

Huge Crowd for Turning on of the Christmas Lights

Over 1,000 people turned up to Carrickmacross on Friday night for the annual turning on of the Christmas lights. Santy left the Shirley Arms Hotel at 6pm and travelled up the Main Street, with the help of a lot of nice children, some Disney Characters and Doran Motors.
Santy turned on the lights on the stage outside Markeys Bar to a count down provided by DJ Wes. Music was also provided by An Lochrann Linn Band. MD mayor Cllr Aoife McCooey wished everyone a very Happy Christmas before John Tobin from Carrickmacross Chamber of Commerce launched the shop local draw.
Up to €5000 can be won over the next 4 weeks by shoppers to Carrickmacross. The event was organised by Carrickmacross Chamber of Commerce with the help of members from Carrickmacross Festival.
Carrickmacross Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone who came to the launch and to all those who helped make the launch such a success.
