In New York in 1975, County Cork natives and NYPD police officers Patrick and Denis Mulcahy, watched news footage of violence in Northern Ireland…. and ‘Project Children’ was born.
Over the next 40 years, 23,000 Catholic and Protestant children would travel from Ireland to America during the summer months as respite from the conflict.
Through interviews with host families, participants, and the passionate volunteers who gave their time to the project, this award-winning documentary narrated by Liam Neeson shows this extraordinary intervention that gave young people the opportunity to see another world outside of the conflict.
