This year’s Feile Samhain (Halloween Festival) will be on again in Emmet Park GAA Grounds, Ballybay
Road, Carrickmacross, Halloween night. Gates open at 6.30pm and Fireworks kick off at 8pm. Note:
If the weather is bad, Fireworks may commence earlier than advertised.
As with previous years, each child who dresses in a costume will receive a free goody bag and Glow
stick – first 300 children only – so it is advised that you get there as early as possible. Parents are also
encouraged to get into the Halloween spirit by dressing up! Prizes will be awarded to best costumes
on the night for both adults and children and the competition is always to a high standard.
Music on the night, with some spooky tunes to keep children, young and old, dancing and
entertained until the fireworks kick off!
There will also be further entertainment provided for the kids and hot drinks & snacks are available
on-site.
Since 2005, the Feile Samhain has been a huge draw for families in and around south Monaghan. It
was originally set up by Carrickmacross Town Council under the stewardship of Councillors Teresa
Carolan and Matt Carthy in an effort to make Halloween a safer time for Carrickmacross – 2004 was
an exceptionally bad year for disruption and vandalism around the town – and it has proven to be a
huge success.
The organising committee comprises of Teresa Carolan (Chairperson), Councillor Colm Carthy (MCC)
and Liam Connolly (Festival Committee). It is organised in conjunction with Monaghan County
Council and is supported by the Carrickmacross – Castleblayney Municipal District staff each year.
Their continued hard work ensures that Feile Samhain remains one of the highlights in the annual
calendar for Carrickmacross and the public’s continued support is very much appreciated. All
welcome on the night.
BIG THANKS TO CARRICKMACROSS EMMETS GAA
We are extremely lucky to have a safe venue to host this annual event and it is because of the
generosity of Carrick Emmets who provide Emmet Park each year. The Feile Samhain committee
would like to thank the Club Committee and the Emmets volunteers who allow this event to take
place.
Also, special thanks to An Garda Siocana who manage the traffic and the Civil Defence who are
always on hand to help if needed.
