Remaining days of free ‘Understanding and Caring for our Waterways Course’ open for registration!

The free Understanding and Caring for our Waterways course started in Emyvale last weekend (see photos at bottom of email) and has more days available to sign up to;

in South Monaghan; on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September at Castleblayney Enterprise Centre and afternoon practical at a riverside in Inniskeen and Sunday 9th October at Lough Muckno
in North Monaghan on Saturday 8th October (at Emy Lake and Castle Leslie Wetlands)
All days run from 9.30am – 3.30pm

Saturday 17th Sept will involve;

• Physical structure & function of Irish lakes & rivers

• Invertebrate & plant life in our rivers, lakes & wetlands

• Using animals & plants to assess water quality

Sunday 18th Sept will involve;

• Water Quality Assessment – Local Catchments

Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October (lake days) will involve;

• Pollution – Threats and opportunities

• What can community groups do to improve water quality and the local environment?

• Refresher – Key elements of the Course / Barriers to progress and advice on overcoming these

• Developing Community Based Water Projects

‘Understanding and Caring for our Waterways’ is a practical and hands-on free training programme open to all (18+); from Tidy Town groups and farmers, to anglers and walkers, wildlife groups and teachers, plus many more!
