Free Talk on Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Carrickmacross Library is thrilled to announce a free talk on Artificial Intelligence (AI) by Dr Dympna O’Sullivan, a Magheracloone-native and leading AI researcher, on Monday, 08 September 2025, at 18:00 in Carrickmacross Library.
The talk, entitled “AI in our daily lives: present and future”, will explore how AI impacts everyday life and will address common misconceptions about AI.
Topics to be covered:
- How AI technologies actually work.
- Ethical considerations and societal impacts.
- Ireland’s role in shaping global AI innovation.
- Practical advice for navigating an AI-driven future.
Dr. O’Sullivan, Academic Lead of the Digital Futures Research Hub at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) is part of a team of researchers involved in ‘Age Friendly AI’, which is Ireland’s National Artificial Intelligence Literacy Initiative for Older Adults. It is a national initiative led by TU Dublin and the Research Ireland ADAPT Centre, with support from a wide range of ageing-focused partners. Age-Friendly AI is dedicated to making Artificial Intelligence accessible and relevant for older adults across Ireland. It provides training about AI and listens to queries from older people to ensure that their experiences shape how future AI is developed and used.
