Cavan-Monaghan Fine Gael TD, Heather Humphreys, has welcomed the allocation of €58,000 for the provision of a new Multi-Use Games Area at Cloughvalley in Carrickmacross.
Speaking on the matter, Deputy Humphreys said:
“I was pleased to receive confirmation from the Minister for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring TD that €58,000 in funding will be provided for this important amenity in Carrickmacross.
“Earlier this year, the Department of Sport, in equal partnership with Irish Public Bodies (IPB) and Local Authorities created a €3m fund to create and enhance sport and recreational facilities in each Local Authority areas.
“Applications were sought from Local Authorities for suitable qualifying projects and Minister Ring, in consultation with senior executives from IPB made the final assessments and allocations to the valid projects.
“I am absolutely delighted that this substantial funding of €58,000 has been provided for the new games area in Carrickmacross and I want to pay tribute to Carrickmacross Town Council for submitting an excellent application.
I would also like to thank local Town Councillors Mary Kerr Conlon and Teresa Carolan as well as Cllr Aidan Murray who raised this project with me.
“I know this will come as very welcome news to young families in Carrickmacross and the surrounding areas and
I look forward to seeing the new games area up and running in the near future,” said Deputy Humphreys.
