Councillor Padraig Mc Nally- Chairman of Carrickmacross Castleblayney Municipal District wishes all the people in his area a happy, peaceful and safe Christmas and New Year.
I sympathise with all those that lost loved ones in 2017 and wishes a speedy recovery to anyone who has been injured or unwell throughout the year.
As the economy continues to grow there are improvements evident around Carrickmacross and Castleblayney but a lot more needs to be done to bring our area back to what it was.
The most glaring omission is the lack of houses and the conditions of some of our roads.
We thank the people for shopping locally in both towns and villages and appeal to people to continue to show their loyalty to towns, villages, country shops and post offices right around county Monaghan.
It is vital that people continue to support these services or they will not be there going forward.
I hope that through the passage of time that closed Garda stations including my own area would be re-considered with a view to giving peace of mind to people in the rural areas of County Monaghan such as Corrinshigo near the border with Culloville.
I would like to thank all the staff and members of the Carrickmacross Castleblayney Municipal District for their continued dedication representing the people of our area
