General Development Contributions Scheme 2013 – 2019
The Local Government (Planning & Development) Act, 1963 enabled planning authorities to grant planning permission subject to conditions requiring payment of a contribution towards expenditure incurred or proposed to be incurred by it in respect of works to facilitate the proposed development. Monaghan Local Authorities currently levy capital contributions on developments in respect of water and sewerage facilities, footpaths and public lighting, car-parking spaces and community, recreation and amenity. The adoption of such a scheme is a reserved function.

Carrickmacross Water Supply Scheme Tender Documents Approved
Minister for the Environment, Mr. Phil Hogan, T.D. approved the Design, Build, Operate Contract Documents for the Carrickmacross Water Supply Scheme on the 25th May 2011. The announcement was welcomed by Monaghan County Council and enables the scheme to proceed to tender stage in the coming months.
The DBO Tender Documents provide for the design, construction and operation for a period of up to 20 years of facilities to abstract water from eight groundwater sources, pump the water to a new Water Treatment Plant and Storage Reservoir at Naffarty, before distribution to the existing network. The completed works will provide a reliable and high quality water supply for Carrickmacross Town and environs for years to come.
