The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) are delighted to be supported by the GAA in our vital work and to use this as a partnership to advocate blood donation and recruit Blood Donors. During 2013 the IBTS recorded that 768 Donors attended our Carrickmacross Blood Donor Clinics, however during 2008 we had 951 Donors attend. That’s a decrease of 183 Donors in 5 years. We all know that emigration has forced many people to seek employment abroad and that has had a knock on effect on our attendances.
In conjunction with the GAA, the IBTS are seeking 100 additional donations and are running the usual Blood Donor Clinic in the Phoenix Leisure Centre in Carrickmacross on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th March, 2014 from 5.00pm to 8.30pm each day. The IBTS are also holding a Special Sunday Clinic aimed at the GAA players, supporters and family on 23rd March, 2014 from 11.30am to 3.00pm.
Your support and that of the wider GAA family is needed at this time so please make a note in your diary and come along on one of the days above. For further details, please contact our lo-call Donor Information Line 1850 – 73 11 37 or John Healy, Area Manager at our Ardee Regional Office, 041 – 685 9994 or www.giveblood.ie.
