Sunday the 1st of September can only mean one thing……..
It’s time for Carrickmacross Vintage Club 7th annual field day.
There will be BIG BAND DANCING this year to MICK FLAVIN and his band, so why not come out and show off your fancy footwork. We hope to have a large range of vintage cars, tractors, lorries and bikes on display. As well as a variety of stalls and auto jumble for everyone to delve into, and hopefully find a bargain or two.
The 7th annual Jigger Run, a Honda 50 run, in memory of club member Frank O’Connor, will leave from The Workhouse and enjoy a scenic route before returning to the show field. This run is open to bikes of all sizes.
The tug-of-war competition, in memory of club member Henry Babington, will be taking place in the field in the late afternoon, when we hope to have a good number of teams to take up the rope. If you want to get a team together (8 members and a coach) please contact John-Joe Cunningham on 087-2371221.
The dog show is being adjudicated by an independent judge, and if previous years are anything to go by, is going to attract a large number of people and their canine companion. The competition is open to all who wish to partake and display their dogs.
The pre-1980 tractor run attracted a good number of tractors last year and we hope to improve on it this year. So, if you are sick of been overshadowed by high-powered four-wheel drives then this is the event for you. It will leave the Workhouse on a local run before returning to show off your pride and joy in the field.
But we certainly can’t forget our younger vintage enthusiasts, there will bouncy castles, obstacle courses and games to entertain them.
We hope that 2019 will be the year of Land Rover in the field, with all vintage models welcome on the day.
Tickets will be on sale shortly for our raffle with the lucky winners being drawn in the field at the end of the day.
